The relationship between the amount of Instagram use on body dysmorphic disorder and eating disorders in teenage girls in Tehran

Abstract
This research aims at studying the effect of Instagram usage on body dysmorphic disorder and eating disorders in teenage girls.

In this case, we applied structural equations to do this research. The Statistical Society was teenage girls aged 15 to 18 years old. The number of statistical samples by applying the Morgan table were 340 people and were selected in a simple random sampling method.

Three questionnaires were given to students as follows: 1. Garner and Garfinkel's (1979) Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26) 1989.

2. BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER MODIFICATION OF THE Y-BOCS (BDD-YBOCS) philips 1997. And positive and negative effects of social media made by the researcher ( online questionnaire) . Based on the findings, the path coefficient of Instagram usage effect on body dysmorphia was 0.431 with t=5.747 which is more than 1.96, so the null hypothesis was refuted and the opposite assumption was accepted with a confidence level of 0.95. in addition, the path coefficient of Instagram usage effect on eating disorder was 0.780 with t=15.896 which is more than 1.96, so the null hypothesis was refuted and the opposite assumption was accepted with a confidence level of 0.95.

Accordingly, the Instagram usage of body dysmorphic disorder and eating disorders has a positive effect and the more time the teenage girls spend on visiting mode, fashion and celebrities pages, the more likely they are exposed to body dysmorphic disorder and eating disorders
