Abstract
Organizational trust is one of the main pillars of successful organizations and can lead to the reduction of deviant behaviors in the workplace. On the other hand, organizational citizen behavior can be a factor in reducing deviant behaviors as a behavior beyond the defined duties. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of organizational trust on deviant behavior in the workplace with the mediating role of organizational citizen behavior in Islamic Azad University, Zanjan branch. The current research was of applied type and in terms of descriptive-survey method based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all administrators and employees of Islamic Azad University, Zanjan branch, and 316 people were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using standard questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS26 and Smart PLS4 software. The results showed that organizational trust has a negative and significant effect on deviant behavior in the work environment with the mediating role of organizational citizen behavior. The findings of this study show that creating and strengthening organizational trust in Islamic Azad University Zanjan branch can lead to reducing deviant behaviors in the workplace and promoting a positive organizational culture in this university. Also, it is important to pay attention to the mediating role of organizational citizen behavior in this regard, and by strengthening this behavior, the effect of organizational trust on reducing deviant behavior can be increased.
