The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on improving mood symptoms of depression in abused women in 1402. The design of this research is semi-experimental and pre-test-post-test with a control group. The statistical population of this research includes abused women aged 20 to 30 under the support of Sarai Gohar charity in Tehran, who have major or chronic depressive disorder according to the confirmation of the psychologist. The sample size in this research is 30 people and the sampling was done using available sampling method. The samples are randomly divided into two experimental groups and a control group (15 people in each group). Research tools include Beck Depression Questionnaire and Value Selection Questionnaire, and the desired variables are low self-esteem, despair and difficulty in making decisions. The intervention consists of 8 sessions of forty-five minutes of treatment based on acceptance and commitment to the experimental group. In order to check the normality of pre-test and post-test data, Shapiro-Wilk test and Levin test were used. To analyze the findings of this research, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used using SPSS software version 22.0. The analysis of the findings shows that the experimental group after receiving the treatment intervention based on acceptance and commitment shows a significant difference compared to the control group in the studied variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that treatment based on acceptance and commitment is an effective intervention in reducing mood symptoms of depression in abused women.
